Picketers have been peacefully protesting outside the Museum of Chinese in America since July 2021. The museum accepted $35 million dollar bribe from City to promote the building of a 40 story jail in Chinatown. The co-chair of the museum and landlord/developer, Jonathon Chu, evicted Jing Fong, the largest restaurant in Chinatown. Chu’s actions are destroying Chinatown and displacing immigrant from the community. Recently, the museum execs have used the friendship of the local police to harass protestors outside MOCA with fines. The right to protest is being criminalized.
