Last night City Councilwoman Alexa Aviles from District 38 hosted city agencies at PS 15 in Red Hook to discuss the last mile warehouses that have taken over the neighborhood and threaten the community with thousands of truck deliveries daily. What came out of the meeting was how little has been done over the two years by these agencies. We have known about the warehouses for about two years, and the City agencies are still waiting for information from the companies. The Red Hook community wants answers now. The DOT is planning a study this fall. How ridiculous can it be? Since these warehouses are on or near the water, it is expected that the companies involved will make use of boat or barge deliveries. Red Hook residents are not going to stand by without fighting this situation.
